Content

At the beginning of the BA program Euclid, the seminar gives an overview of the "tools" of working in historical science. This includes, for example, researching literature, the ability to evaluate whether it is serious and relevant for one's own research, the interpretation of historical sources of different mediality, scientific reading, which differs from everyday reading, and finally: the independent writing of first scientific texts, including correct reference to sources and literature used. Parts of the course will take place in digital format. If infection permits, excursions to the Badische Landesbibliothek and the Generallandesarchiv will take place as part of the seminar.

The topics covered will be deepened in an accompanying tutorial.

The course requirements for successful participation include regular attendance or participation in digital formats, willingness to engage in discussion, a smaller written paper during the lecture period, and the preparation of a written term paper (approx. 5 pages) during the lecture-free period (deadline: 31.3.2021).
