The film project "FahrGemeinschaft" is a cooperation between the Department of History at KIT and the Department of Public History at the University of Hamburg with the kind support of the KIT Institute of Technology Futures.

In this film, two historians of technology explore forms of mobility in the past and present. Whether in the suburban train or in the modern electric car - Kurt Möser and Gijs Mom deal with the central topics of the mobility history of the 20th century. In doing so, they repeatedly come up against the question of why the car in particular was able to become the defining means of transportation and what its future might look like. How do the significance and everyday use of the car vary in global comparison and which perspectives on automotive history have been neglected so far? Answers to these and other questions can be found in the project's individual videos, which will soon be posted online.
