Exhibiting History. From artifact to narrative

Contents

In 2025, KIT will celebrate an anniversary: 200 years ago, the Polytechnic School was founded in Karlsruhe. On this occasion, the KIT Archive is preparing a historical exhibition that will shed light on the history of KIT by means of 100 objects.

The seminar offers insights into the ongoing preparation of the exhibition. At first, we will acquire a basic knowledge of KIT history in order to focus on concrete objects in the second half of the semester and to discuss possibilities of their staging.

Warning: The seminar requires a high reading level!

Organizational

The seminar will take place in double sessions fortnightly and, if possible, in presence. Registration on Ilias is essential for the related planning.

Course work

The course credit depends on the module assignment. For the BA modules SQ, PolG 2 and KgT 2 as well as the Master modules PolG A, KgT A an oral presentation and a written paper (4-5 pages) are required. If assigned in the Hermeneutics module (KHF), an oral presentation and a written paper (approx. 10 pages) are required.
